Zecotek Photonics Inc. announced that Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria, Valparaiso, Chile, has ordered the company's proprietary third generation Micro-pixel Avalanche Photo Diode (MAPD-3N) for use in high-precision calorimeters for its participation in CERN's NA-61 experiments. The Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria has an internationally recognized program in high energy physics, and participates in two experiments at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland, one experiment at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, and two experiments at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in the United States. The High Energy Physics Program is building a new detector laboratory in Chile through funds from the Valparaiso Center for Science and Technology, which is led by Professor Ivan Schmidt.
Zecotek Photonics Inc. announced that its patented LFS scintillation crystals have been selected by Shinshu University for trials in their next-generation Positron Emission Tomography (PET) medical imaging program. Shinshu Universitys PET program is aimed directly at advancing improvements in spatial resolution for more effective 3D imaging of cancer in particular using the LFS crystals superior performance which enables sub nano-second timing resolution.

Zecotek's Real-Time 3D2D Display System is based on the auto-stereoscopic principle, but with substantial innovative and patented improvements and represents a new and unique generation of 3D displays. In September 2008, Zecotek's 3D development team announced significant improvements in overall clarity, a doubling of concurrent perspectives (from 40 to 80) and an increase in the effective 3D viewing angle from 25 to 40 degrees. The company is also introducing flat screen 5 to 16 inch 3D displays for the transportation, personal computing and gaming industries, and a 54 inch 3D display designed to meet the expected demand for industrial, advertisement, medical and home entertainment markets.
