This segment?s services also consist of managed services, which offer network, equipment, and professional services; voice services, including standard dial tone, retail local and long distance services, basic business lines, switched trunks, messaging, voice and Web conferencing, and carrier reciprocal access; and hosting and hosted applications, such as Web hosting, messaging, collaboration, and software-as-a-service applications to help customers manage their online business. The Nextlink segment provides a high-speed wireless alternative to local copper and fiber connections. It offers wireless backhaul, network extensions, network redundancy, and diversity services using broadband radio signals transmitted between points of presence located within line-of-sight. This segment?s services provide carriers and end-user customers with network diversity and redundancy to permit them to deploy communications services. XO Holdings Inc. announced that it has been selected by StarView, a supplier of business-ready IP communications solutions, to provide Dedicated Internet Access and Ethernet over Copper transport services. By choosing XO--a Tier 1 Internet provider with national reach-the company will be well positioned to offer customers high-speed, high-capacity VoIP services at a competitive price. The upgrade to Ethernet over Copper expands StarView's product offering, giving customers the option of increasing their network speed up to 20 Mbps. The faster and more efficient network connects directly to StarView's Class 5 switches, offering a high-quality connection to users. Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. and XO Holdings Inc. announced the certification of interoperability of XO SIP, a Session Initiation Protocol trunking solution from XO Communications, with Toshiba's family of Strata CIX IP business communication systems. XO SIP is available from Authorized Toshiba Dealers nationwide. The XO SIP solution delivers low-cost SIP 'trunks' to users of Toshiba Strata CIX VoIP business communication systems, giving the best of Toshiba's enterprise telephony capabilities without the need to rely on traditional land lines.
