Wal-Mart Stores Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended October 31, 2009. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of $99,411 million, operating income of $5,593 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $5,118 million and income from continuing operations attributable to the company of $3,246 million or $0.84 per diluted share against revenues of $98,345 million, operating income of $5,292 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $4,836 million and income from continuing operations attributable to the company of $3,033 million or $0.77 per diluted share for the same period last year. For the nine months, the company reported revenues of $294,563 million, operating income of $16,692 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $15,277 million and income from continuing operations attributable to the company of $9,725 million or $2.50 per diluted share against revenues of $295,627 million, operating income of $16,421 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $15,013 million and income from continuing operations attributable to the company of $9,462 million or $2.40 per diluted share for the same period last year. Net cash provided by operating activities was $12,440 million against $10,426 million last year. Payments for property and equipment were $8,885 million against $8,174 million last year. The company expects diluted earnings per share from continuing operations for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2010 to be between $1.08 and $1.12.
