Key developments for Waterford Wedgwood Plc (WATFF)
The receiver of Waterford Wedgwood Plc and the UK administrators of the company have confirmed the sale of its Irish and UK businesses, including Waterford Crystal. The businesses are being acquired by KPS Capital Partners LP. Agreement on the sale was announced in February, but the final deal was dependent on a number of foreign assets being acquired. KPS has formed a new company called WWRD Holdings to acquire the Waterford businesses. Its chief executive Pierre de Villemejane said the new owners planned to grow the company organically and by making acquisitions.
It has been reported that Clarion Capital Partners LLC is likely to bid for Waterford Wedgwood plc. KPS Capital Partners, LP is already in talks with receiver, David Carson of Deloitte regarding the acquisition of Waterford. David Carson said that he is committed to maintaining and selling the business as a going concern.
Waterford Wedgwood plc confirmed that it has received notice of the resignation of Mr. Peter John Goulandris as a director of the company, and from any subsidiary boards of which he was a board member. Mr. Goulandris' resignation is effective immediately.
