TW Telecom Inc. reported consolidated unaudited earnings results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2009. For the quarter, the company's revenue was $307.9 million compared to $294.6 million for the fourth quarter last year, representing a year over year increase of $13.3 million, or 5%. Modified-EBITDA grew to $113.9 million for the quarter, an increase of 9%, or $9.7 million from $104.25 million for the same period last year. The growth in modified-EBITDA represents the contribution from revenue growth, cost efficiencies from network and other optimization efforts and lower bad debt expense, partially offset with an increase in employee costs. For the quarter, the company achieved net income of $11.1 million, or $0.07 per share, compared to net income of $0.9 million, or $0.01 per share, for the same period last year. The increase year over year in net income reflects strong modified-EBITDA growth and lower net interest costs. Operating income for the quarter was $32.434 million against $24.335 million for the same quarter last year. Income before income taxes for the quarter was $11.68 million against $1.6 million for the same quarter last year. Net cash provided by operating activities for the quarter was $112.275 million against $107.775 million for the same quarter last year. Capital expenditures were $72.3 million for the quarter compared to $59.9 million for the prior quarter and $72.9 million for the same period last year. For the year, the company reported total revenue of $1,211.4 million, operating income of $114 million, income before income taxes of $30.332 million, net income of $27.6 million or $0.18 per diluted share, modified EBITDA of $436.66 million and net cash provided by operating activities of $390.5 million against total revenue of $1,159.02 million, operating income of $89.9 million, loss before income taxes of $4.92 million, net loss of $7.3 million or $0.05 loss per diluted share, modified EBITDA of $399.02 million and net cash provided by operating activities of $305.52 million for the year 2008. For the year, capital investments were $274.9 million as compared to $276.9 million for the prior year. The company expects capital investments for 2010 to be approximately $275 to $300 million. The Company expects the majority of the full year capital investments to be tied to new sales opportunities.
