Key developments for Tulip BioMed, Inc. (TPBM)
Tulip BioMed Inc. announced that it has begun offering for sale its line of one-time use, disposable macro-cannulas for liposuction procedures. The new medical device provides a cost-effective alternative to re-usable cannulas used for liposuction and have been clinically evaluated with positive feedback and results. The Company's macro-cannulas are believed to be the world's first disposable macro-cannulas available for aesthetic surgeries and veterinarian procedures. Re-usable macro-cannulas used for these procedures must be cleaned and sterilized after each use, and are often used on hundreds of different patients over several years. Studies have demonstrated that despite cleaning attempts, re-usable cannulas can accumulate material on the inside of the cannula, presumably human fat, which cannot be completely removed.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TDCA BioMed, Inc. (formerly known as Tulip BioMed, Inc.; Pink Sheets:TPBMth Quarter of 2009. TDCA BioMed primarily markets and sells one-time use, packaged, sealed and sterilized disposable cannulas used in liposuction, fat transfer, and orthopedic procedures. Cannulas are the devices that are inserted into the body to remove fat, and/or re-inject fat as a natural filler. Currently, the vast majority of cannulas used in these procedures are re-usable. As the name indicates, re-usable cannulas are used multiple times. While every effort is used to clean and sterilize re-usable cannulas, these devices can, and often are, re-used multiple times over many years on different patients. Patients can justifiably raise concerns that a re-usable cannula is inserted into their body without knowing how many times it has been used before or on how many different patients. TDCA BioMed believes that their one-time use cannulas are cost efficient compared with re-usable cannulas, and help reduce concerns about, for example, material-transfer between patients. TDCA BioMed cannulas are the only cannulas that are coated on both the inside and outside with a proprietary hydrogel coating –...Click here to read the whole Article (external link)
