Top Ships Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and the full year ended December 31, 2009. For the quarter, the company reported net loss of $35,945,000 or $1.20 per basic and diluted share on revenues of $24,397,000 compared to net income of $8,429,000 or $0.28 per basic and diluted share on revenues of $36,962,000 for the same period of last year. Operating loss was $31,738,000 compared to operating income of $7,952,000 for the same period of last year. For the year, the company reported net loss of $50,196,000 or $1.78 per basic and diluted share on revenues of $107,979,000 compared to net income of $25,639,000 or $0.97 per basic and diluted share on revenues of $257,380,000 for the same period of last year. Operating loss was $34,211,000 compared to operating income of $61,723,000 for the same period of last year. Net cash provided by operating activities was $6,576,000 compared to operating income of $11,847,000 for the same period of last year. Vessel acquisitions and improvements was $136,678,000 compared to operating income of $118,142,000 for the same period of last year. The company recorded impairment charges of $36,638,000 for the fourth quarter of 2009.
