Key developments for SYMPOWERCO CORP (SYMW)
Sympowerco Corp. announced that the company has entered Phase II of its two concurrent prototype projects, the Flowing Electrolyte Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (FEDMFC) Prototype Project and the Hybrid Power System Project for small Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Phase II of the FEDMFC prototype project will include materials and equipment assessments for the various components that will constitute the fuel cell stack and the prototype's Balance of Plant. In addition, Phase II is intended to produce the complete CAD/CAM design plans of the advanced components that are required to satisfy the recently announced objectives of the program. Phase II of the Hybrid Power System Project will include formal assessments of the materials and equipment required to test several types of power sources required for small Hybrid Electric Vehicle drive systems.
Sympowerco Corp. announced the start of a new project for the development and construction of an advanced Flowing Electrolyte Direct Methanol Fuel Cell ("FEDMFC") prototype. The as-yet-unnamed project will serve to address several objectives relating to the advancement of FEDMFC technologies including innovative engineering designs, durability, scalability and manufacturing methods and economics. SymPowerco's management is of the opinion that its engineering and electro-chemical ideas and designs must be implemented and tested with a state-of-the-art prototype that offers sufficient flexibility in its design to allow multiple engineering concepts to be tested under broad operating parameters. The prototype will be developed completely in-house by SymPowerco's subsidiary, Polygenic Power Corp. SymPowerco Corporation will retain control of all facets of the project as well as all Intellectual Property rights that result from the project. The project will run parallel with any other fuel cell projects with which the company is involved and is expected to greatly expedite the company's FEDMFC objectives.
Sympowerco Corp. announced that the company has reentered discussions with an automotive laboratory for the joint design, construction and testing of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) prototypes and Hybrid Power Systems. The prototypes will serve as test beds for the design of SymPowerco's Hybrid Power Systems. SymPowerco plans to enter the Hybrid Power Systems markets with its unique Flowing Electrolyte Direct Methanol Fuel Cell. SymPowerco has broadly expanded the objectives of the HEV Project to include feasibility studies for the early commercialization of multiple Hybrid Power System configurations. The project is expected to determine optimal battery requirements for the HEVs, to test multiple types of batteries, to confirm System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) specifications for SymPowerco's Hybrid Power Systems, to determine the fuel cell power delivery requirements of the Hybrid Power Systems under various load conditions and to determine the design issues involving the retrofitting of existing plug-in electric vehicles with SymPowerco's fuel cell and hybrid power technologies. SymPowerco has identified extensive markets for Fuel Cell Hybrid Power Systems including golf carts, small industrial vehicles, three-wheeled taxis in the Far East (Tuk-Tuks), motorbikes and similar small vehicles. Many national and local governments in the Far East wish to replace millions of gas-powered motorbikes and taxis with electric vehicles that do not require plug-in rechargers.
