Key developments for Spirent Communications Plc (SPMYY)
Spirent Communications plc announced that it is providing the test infrastructure for the Home Gateway Initiative Test Event that will establish Quality of Service metrics and help demonstrate the ability of home gateways to deliver end-to-end QoS for multiplay managed services. Spirent will enable HGI to determine the mean performances of home gateways in specific configurations and conditions. In particular, Spirent TestCenter will measure throughput and latency for different Ethernet-based WAN and LAN configurations. This HGI Test Event will help build upon the QoS architecture described in the recently published QoS White Paper. Furthermore the test will identify HGI-GD013-R2 and HGI's requirements for multiple flows, currently an HGI working draft document (HGI-RWD010-R3). In doing so, home gateway vendors will be able to assess QoS and multi-session support in both the product and reference designs. The test event will be held September 28-October 2 at Orange Telecom's Lab in Lannion, France.
Spirent Communications plc introduced the Spirent TestCenter HyperMetrics (TM) 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet test module. Designed to test the performance and scalability of 40/100G Ethernet systems and services, the new module goes beyond test port density to focus on application realism, accuracy and performance per port, reducing operational expenses and total cost of ownership (TCO). The Spirent TestCenter HyperMetrics 40/100G Ethernet module delivers several industry firsts including the generation of realistic multiplay traffic for the highest scale edge and core IP services testing the highest performance per port and the maximum return on investment. Leveraging Spirent's HyperMetrics multi-core processor, the new test module validates performance, scalability and realism. Further, to support all aspects of 40/100G Ethernet development the Spirent TestCenter HyperMetrics 40/100G Ethernet modules goes beyond Layer 2-7 to include Layer 1 functional testing.
In an effort to not only help carriers pre-qualify new 10 Gigabit Ethernet services but also ensure their networks perform reliably once launched, Spirent Communications plc introduced, Spirent QoS Scope 7500, the industry's first 10G Ethernet service assurance solution for testing service performance in live networks. Already deployed by three of the largest service providers in the United States, the QoS Scope validates the performance of complex 10G and 1G Ethernet services such as business Ethernet and wireless backhaul. A leader in network, services and device testing, the company has extended its technical prowess and leadership in lab-based Ethernet testing to help service providers address issues that occur in their live networks. The QoS Scope provides valuable ways to conduct service assurance for Ethernet over Fiber, SONET/SDH, WDM, TDM, DOCSIS, GPON and copper architectures in both trial and live network environments.
