SINGTEL has won a $21 million deal to provide multimedia entertainment and Internet access to hotel rooms in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS). The telco will equip the 1,800 rooms in the complex's six hotels with high-speed wireless Internet access and a specially designed entertainment system. This integrated system will incorporate games, music, movies and programmes from SingTel's mio TV. It will also allow guests to view the entertainment, shopping and dining options available at the resort. The seven-year deal also involves SingTel providing RWS with an automated system to manage and monitor its fleet of limousines and to handle limo transfer requests. Its system should assist staff preparing for the arrival of VIP guests and help them to respond quickly to traffic jams and vehicle breakdowns. SingTel will also provide a location-based SMS and MMS system to inform visitors of the latest promotions when they enter pre-defined areas around the resort.
Singapore Telecommunications Limited announced that Singapore Telecom International Pte Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of SingTel, has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary in Singapore known as Cyan Private Limited ('Cyan'). Dow Jones Newswires reported the company intends to divest a minority stake in Optus through an IPO.
