Sand Technology Inc. announced three important additions to its board of directors. Duncan Painter, Director, Experian Plc, Michael Pesner, President of Hermitage Canada Finance Inc, and Daniel Benn, executive and entrepreneur, have been elected to SAND's board of directors, bringing the total membership to nine. Mr. Painter most recently led both the UK Marketing Services and Global Marketing Services Consulting and Delivery businesses at Experian Plc.
Sand Technology Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended October 31, 2009. For the period, the company's revenues were CAD 2,485,464 against CAD 1,223,928 a year ago. Income from operations was CAD 517,707 against loss from operations of CAD 902,590 a year ago. Net income and comprehensive income was CAD 431,290 or CAD 0.02 per diluted share against net loss and comprehensive loss of CAD 989,850 a year ago. Cash flows used in operating activities was CAD 211,993 against CAD 328,200 a year ago. The revenue growth is mostly due to the sale of high value software licenses in Europe to two existing customers.
Co-Founder and the Chief Executive of SAND Technology, Arthur Ritchie, announced that on reaching the age of 65, he plans to retire and step down as CEO by the end of October. He has agreed to remain as the companys Chairman working in an advisory capacity. Additionally he will focus on assisting the CEOs smooth transition including strengthening existing customer and partner relationships. Tom ODonnell, current board member and a major shareholder of SAND, will be appointed as President and CEO effective November 1, 2009. SAND will continue to be headquartered in Montreal. Tom O'Donnell is the CEO and founder of Edge Specialists. He is a co-inventor of two extensive trading software patents and a C.P.A. His extensive career in the software and financial markets makes him highly qualified for his new role.
