SMART Modular Technologies (WWH) Inc. announced that it repurchased $26.2 million aggregate principal amount of its senior secured floating rate notes due 2012 at a discount. Using $25 million cash on hand, SMART paid 95.5% of the principal or face amount of the notes to acquire and retire such debt early. The aggregate principal amount outstanding under the notes is now $55.1 million, down from $81.3 million. By using cash on hand to extinguish almost one-third of its long-term debt, SMART expects to save $1.5 million in annual interest expense based on the current interest rate under the notes of approximately 5.8%.
Harris Corp. Selects SMART Modular Technologies (WWH) Inc. to Provide Solid-State Drives (SSDs) for Use in its Mass Storage Unit Program

SMART Modular Technologies (WWH) Inc. announced that it has been selected by Harris Corporation to provide solid-state drives (SSDs) for use in its Mass Storage Unit (MSU) program. The new MSU, which is part of a larger F/A-18 program, is the first of a new family of avionics file servers. Harris selected SMART's XceedSecure 2.5' SATA SSD for the in-flight file server application. XceedSecure high-performance SSDs range in capacity from 32GB to 256GB and include EraSure(r) technology, which is secure erase features that comply with current military data-elimination standards.

SMART Modular Technologies Raises First Quarter Fiscal Year 2010 Guidance
NEWARK, CA--(Marketwire - 11/11/09) - SMART Modular Technologies (WWH), Inc. ("SMART" or the "Company") (NASDAQ:SMOD - News), a leading independent manufacturer of memory modules, solid state storage products including SSDs, embedded computing subsystems, and display products, today announced that it is raising its guidance for the first quarter of fiscal 2010 based on the Company's preliminary review of its anticipated financial performance. The Company expects to report GAAP diluted net income per share in the range of $0.04 to $0.06 for the first quarter of fiscal 2010, substantially exceeding its previous guidance of ($0.01) to $0.01 per share announced on October 1, 2009. Non-GAAP diluted net income per share is expected to be in the range of $0.06 to $0.08, a substantial increase to the previous guidance provided by the Company of $0.02 to $0.04.The Company expects to report net sales in the range of $110 to $120 million, more than 10% higher than the previous guidance of $98 to $105 million.
