Most recently he was with the Bank of Walnut Creek. Summit Bancshares Inc. and Summit Bank announced that Frederick T. Caven, Jr. has been appointed to the Board of Directors. Mr. Caven has approximately ten years of experience on Wall Street as a Managing Director where he specialized in real estate investment banking. Prior to investment banking, Mr. Caven worked for over thirteen years in public accounting as a tax specialist. He currently is an independent consultant advising public and private real estate companies on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructurings, and capital transactions. He is a former member of the Advisory Board to the Fisher Center for Urban Economics and Real Estate, University of California, Berkeley and is a current member of the Advisory Board to the School of Accounting at Golden Gate University.

For the year, the company's net income decreased to $2,088,000 or $1.61 per share compared to $3,685,000 or $2.37 per share for the same period in 2007. On an annualized basis, return on average assets for the year ending December 31, 2008 was 1.14% and return on beginning capital was 9.86%, compared to the ROA of 1.96% and the ROE of 17.11% for the same period last year.
