Key developments for Royal Standard Minerals Inc. (RYSMF)
Royal Standard Minerals Inc. announced that it is continuing with an evaluation program of the geologic and analytical data for the Goldwedge property. This program includes a complete analysis of the surface drilling and underground sampling data, the re-evaluation of the geology and the structural interpretations. This effort should confirm or slightly adjust the established relationships within the near surface portion of the deposit development where the structural zone and gold mineralization outcrops in this area. This portion of the deposit was placer mined and experienced some shallow underground mining more than 70 years ago. This work in conjunction with the surface drilling results should yield support for a model of the gold system at depth that will support the upcoming deeper development program. At this point the decline and crosscut development has achieved a depth of approximately 280 feet below the surface, the uppermost portion of the gold mineralized system. In the Manhattan District, the Company is continuing with an evaluation of the available geologic data for all of its current property holdings as a means to identify the initial properties that will be selected for more detailed evaluations going forward. These properties will become high priority projects for permitting and development as a feed source for the Goldwedge plant.
Royal Standard Minerals Inc. has completed a study of its Pinon and Darkstar properties in Elko County, Nevada and has identified a number of new drill targets that have potential to be additive to the current near surface gold-silver resources at Pinon and Darkstar and for deep, underground, 'new' gold resources. The development of new drill targets during this phase of study concentrated on those areas in close proximity to the measured near surface oxide gold-silver deposits to include the Pinon Property-Main Zone and North Pod and the Darkstar deposits. (There projects are currently under evaluation for near term development as an open pit heap leach operation by RYSMF). The regional exploration within the Carlin Trend over the past 20 years has resulted in the discovery of deeper (underground) high grade (0.4-1 opt) multimillion ounce gold deposits such as the Deep Star, Meikle and Rain-extension gold deposits. These structurally controlled deposits are frequently associated with or in close proximity to near surface open pit gold deposits. On the RYSMF property position there is geo-technical support from drilling, geologic, geochemical and geophysical data that continued exploration may result in the discovery of larger deposits that are not exposed at the surface.
Royal Standard Minerals Inc. announced that it has continued with its plans for underground development to access the main gold mineralized zone on the Goldwedge property. This portion of the property has been drill tested and has been explored underground at a point where the decline has achieved access to the main zone. Prior underground drifting within the main zone, the initial development area on the 6,620 level indicates that the main zone in this area is approximately 90 feet in width. Previous drifting on strike within this zone south of the 'K' cross cut returned approximately 85 feet of 0.835 ounces per ton (26 grams/ton) gold. Indications from rock chip sampling toward the northwest on the north side, indicates that this gold mineralization is open toward the northwest. Drifting on the 6,660 level indicates that this zone is also present on this level returning similar gold grades and widths. The average grade and mineable widths of this zone have yet to be determined. Surface drilling results indicate that this gold zone may extend for several hundred feet toward the northwest and is open on strike to depth. The company will install an improved dewatering system to help insure that the development program that will start on the 6,620 level and will proceed without unnecessary delays. Other preparations include the necessary work to continue with the development of the currently identified main zone as soon as possible. This zone will constitute the initial primary source of gold mineralized material for the onsite gravity plant. This program will commence as soon as possible.
