Remy International Inc. reported earnings results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009. For the quarter, the company reported sales of $223.7 million compared to $279.4 million a year earlier. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization, and restructuring charges (EBITDAR) were $41.3 million compared to $29.8 million in the third quarter of 2008. Gross profit less SG&A was $32.4 million compared to $23.3 million in the third quarter of 2008. Net income attributable to the company was $16.5 million, compared to 2008's third quarter's net income of $4.3 million. Results reflect a change in the presentation of factoring expense.

Remy International Inc. announced it will be supplying the EBO Group's subsidiary, eZEhybrid Drives Inc. with the Remy HVH250 electric motor. The Remy motor will be used in the eZEhybrid((TM)) HPM OCED (hydraulic pump mount oil cooled electric drive) module for SAE hydraulic pump drives which enables the addition of electric power to hydraulic drives on construction and mining equipment. The new eZEhybrid((TM)) OCED module is for SAE 'C' mount hydraulic pump drives. Mobile equipment that already heavily relies upon hydraulic pumps can now be easily hybridized with eZEhybrid((TM)) HPM OCED modules that directly connect to standard SAE pump drive mounting faces. The Remy HVH250 electric motor will provide the power and torque necessary to enable the operation of equipment hydraulics without the engine operating. This will provide users a fuel savings and will result in zero emissions during HPM OCED operation. The eZEhybrid(TM) OCED module using the Remy HVH250 has a peak power of 107 HP and continuously delivers 80 HP. The module weighs 130 lbs. and has a length of 17 inches. eZEhybrid Drives Inc. is testing their new hydraulic pump mount motor with customers interested in this new technology. Production and sales are expected to begin in 2010.

Remy International Inc. announced its first 'off-the-shelf' electric motor for hybrid and hybrid electric vehicles. This innovative new product, called the HVH250, is based on Remy's patented High Voltage Hairpin technology which offers the power density and torque density available on the market. The product is the first in a series of new 'off-the-shelf' products planned by Remy for the automotive, truck, bus, and heavy equipment markets. The motor has a matched inverter/control system, and Remy has motor production capacity of over 100,000 units/year already in place at multiple sites in North America and Europe. The product line expansion is being funded in part by the recent U.S. Department of Energy grants aimed at accelerating the manufacturing and deployment of next generation electric vehicle technologies. Some of these grant funds will also be available to support customer application costs for hybrid motor/generator integration. Remy is offering a standard product in order to reduce customer development costs (tooling and non-recurring engineering) as well as the production costs associated with low volume, custom designs. This new approach to product design will also improve speed to market and reduce cost barriers for customers in the emerging hybrid and electric vehicle marketplace.
