Key developments for Royal Holdings Services Ltd. (RHSL)
Anil Ambani, Chairman of the Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group has started takeover talks with SpiceJet Ltd. Anil Ambani will face tough competition form Kingfisher Airlines Limited and Jet Airways (India) Ltd. who have already expressed their interest in SpiceJet. As per source, NM Rothschild and Sons Ltd, has been appointed by SpiceJet for raising funds. Now Bhupendra Kansagra, who has a 12.91% stake in SpiceJet through Royal Holding Services Ltd., can also sell his 12.91% stake as the clause which prevented him from selling his stake has expired. Ambani, Jet and Kingfisher are also talking to Istithmar World P.J.S.C. to buy his 13.42% stake in SpiceJet. Istithmar has recently expressed interest in increasing his stake in SpiceJet or selling it off for a premium. Bhupendra Kansagra said: “I cannot comment on rumors. At present, I am not meeting anybody and not thinking about diluting my stake. We are exploring various modalities of raising funds for SpiceJet to funds its expansion.” SpiceJet’s director Ajay Singh, said: “I have no comments to offer.” A senior Jet Airways executive, said: His chairman Naresh Goyal and other board representatives are in touch with SpiceJet’s promoters for a possible acquisition.
The Kansagras family, promoters of SpiceJet Ltd, is planning to sell their 13% stake in the company. Royal Holdings Services Ltd, representing Bhupendra Kansagra and his family, is on a look out for a buyer and have initiated talks with "several interested parties," sources said. "They (Kansagras) feel exorbitant jet fuel prices is making the business model of low-cost airlines commercial unviable," said a source. The lock-in period of the Kansagras expired on February 7 which makes the exit easier for them. The sources also said that Kansagras had approached SpiceJet director Ajay Singh, Istithmar World P.J.S.C., and Essar Group for a stake sale. All the three, apparently, declined the offer. SpiceJet’s executive chairman, Siddhanta Sharma denied the report saying, “Yes, the lock-in period of the Kansagras got over on February 7, but they are not interested in divesting their stake.”
