Rockwell Diamonds Inc., Q3 2010 Earnings Call, Jan 18 2010

Rockwell Diamonds Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for third quarter and nine months ended November 30, 2009. For the quarter, the company reported profit of CAD 513,945 or CAD 0.002 per diluted share on revenues of CAD 12,860,546 against profit of CAD 4,527,550 or CAD 0.019 per diluted share on revenues of CAD 16,126,281 for same period a year ago. Operating profit for the period was CAD 2,470,743 against CAD 9,552,564 for same period a year ago. Profit before taxes for the period was CAD 620,970 against CAD 7,634,525 for same period a year ago. Cash from operations for the period was CAD 5,148,855 against CAD 2,698,583 for same period a year ago. Purchase of equipment and mineral properties for the period was CAD 19,665 against CAD 3,218,465 for same period a year ago. For nine months, the company reported loss of CAD 6,111,632 or CAD 0.026 per diluted share on revenues of CAD 22,708,481 against profit of CAD 1,476,349 or CAD 0.006 per diluted share on revenues of CAD 33,625,070 for same period a year ago. Operating loss for the period was CAD 2,279,922 against operating profit of CAD 9,545,220 for same period a year ago. Loss before taxes for the period was CAD 8,862,180 against profit before taxes was CAD 2,788,858 for same period a year ago. Cash from operations for the period was CAD 4,506,152 against CAD 4,901,202 for same period a year ago. Purchase of equipment and mineral properties for the period was CAD 2,874,589 against CAD 12,836,372 for same period a year ago.

Rockwell Diamonds Inc. reported that it has recovered several large stones - plus-50 carats in size - from the Saxendrift and Holpan mining operations. Some of these large diamonds were produced prior to the short break for the holiday season, and others were recovered since operational start-up on January 8, 2010. They are 52.40 carat clean light fancy yellow diamond from Holpan, 60.52 carat light yellow octahedral diamond from Saxendrift, 74.99 carat clean white irregular blocky stone from Saxendrift, 54.23 carat light yellow broken macle stone with inclusions from Saxendrift and 60.51 light yellow rounded flat stone with oxide coating and minor inclusions from Saxendrift. The stones are being cleaned to ensure that their proper characteristics, including colour and clarity, are apparent for valuation by the Companys diamond experts. The Saxendrift mine is located adjacent to the Middle Orange River approximately 160 kilometers southwest of Kimberley, and the Holpan mine is located approximately 40 kilometers north of Kimberley, in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. The four diamonds recovered at Saxendrift were mined from basal gravel and Rooikoppie deposits, whereas the Holpan stone was likely mined from paleochannel deposits.
