Key developments for Powertech Uranium Corp (PWURF)
Powertech Uranium Corp. announced that it has submitted the required Plan of Operation to the U.S. Department of Interior's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for its Dewey-Burdock uranium in situ project. The project, which is located in Fall River and Custer Counties, South Dakota (SD), consists of 10,580 surface and mineral acres controlled by the Company through active mining leases, purchases and unpatented claims. The BLM manages 240 acres within the project area, of which only about 15 acres are expected to be disturbed during the life of the project. Powertech controls the mineral rights on these lands through unpatented Federal Lode Claims and secures access under the terms of the 1872 Mining Law. The BLM is required to review the project's impacts on the federal surface and assure that there is no 'unnecessary or undue degradation of public lands' under 43 Code of Federal Regulations Part 3809. BLM will coordinate its review with the other two federal agencies (EPA and NRC) that are actively reviewing applications previously submitted by the Company, as well as the SD Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The BLM review is expected to occur concurrently with the reviews of the other agencies.
