Key developments for Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen SA (PSKNY)
Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen SA (PKN Orlen) may be looking at acquiring only a minority stake in Klaipeda from the government of Lithuania as the government is quite unwilling to sell its full 70% stake, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily wrote, citing Orlen CFO Slawomir Jedrzejczyk. However, in such a scenario Orlen would have to have the operational control over the terminal, which would give the company the power to determine the fees for reloading oil and fuel, Jedrzejczyk underlined. PKN is going to propose the new offer to the Lithuanian government.
Slawomir Jedrzejczyk, Chief Financial Officer of Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen SA (PKN Orlen) said that the firm plans to sell ANWIL SA and its stake in Polkomtel S.A in the first quarter of 2010. He added, “Our target is to finalize both deals in the first quarter of 2010.”
PKN Orlen (Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen SA) reported earnings results for the third quarter of 2009. For the period, the company's net profit soared to PLN 930.6 million, up from PLN 21.1 million a year earlier. The group's profit jumped more than 40-fold after rising oil prices boosted the value of its inventories and the stronger zloty cut the value of euro-denominated debt.
