Eagle Plains Resources Ltd. and Prize Mining Corp. have completed mining and milling activity for the 2009 season and have commenced seasonal clean-up and maintenance. The first gold bar was recently poured from concentrate materials milled on-site and weighs 2.284 kg. The project is operated through the Yellowjacket Joint-Venture, jointly owned by Eagle Plains and Prize Mining and operated by Eagle Plains. The Yellowjacket Project is located 9km east of Atlin, BC and is accessed by all-season road. The project received a Small Mines Act Permit in July, 2009 for the development and production of gold from the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. The Permit allows for the development and operation of an open pit gold mine and onsite concentrator processing up to 75,000 tons per year of ore. Under the terms of the Joint Venture Agreement, Eagle Plains earned an initial 40% interest in the Project from Prize by making a $2,000,000 cash payment.
Prize Mining Corp. announced the appointment of James ('Jim') Glass as president, CEO and director and Marshall Farris as director of the corporation. Feisal Somji, current director will take the position of chairman of the board as well as act as interim chief financial officer until a permanent CFO is engaged. Jim Glass has a diversified business background that includes the management, operation and administration of a number of public companies. He has successfully taken companies from the formative stages through to development, financing and initial public offering. Jim's experience spans more than 20 years and includes a senior management position with Gresham Resources Inc., and directorship with Mexican Silver Mines Ltd. Yellowjacket Joint Venture and Prize Mining Corp. jointly announce completion of final commissioning and permit compliance requirements to allow for commencement of full production at their Yellowjacket Gold Mine, located in northwestern British Columbia. On July 10, 2009, the Yellowjacket Gold Mine received its BC Mines Act Permit for the development and operation of an open pit gold mine and onsite concentrator processing up to 75,000 tonnes per year of gold ore. Work completed since receiving permit approvals includes construction of a newly designed tailings storage facility and pipeline, emplacement of environmental monitoring wells, mine pit dewatering, ramp construction, mill commissioning and electrical upgrades. The 2009 mining plan includes extraction of a minimum of 32,000 tonnes of gold ore from the existing open pit. Pit excavation is anticipated to be completed in about 5 weeks, and milling at a throughput rate of 350 tons per day expected to continue until mid-late October.
