optionsXpress Holdings, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2009. For the quarter, the company reported income before income tax of $22.498 million and net income of $14.870 million or $0.26 per diluted share on net revenues of $60.122 million compared to the income before income tax of $29.105 million and net income of $19.184 million or $0.32 per diluted share on net revenues of $57.317 million for the same period a year ago. Fourth quarter results include approximately $0.9 million in one-time non-cash gains related to prior acquisitions, which also lowered the tax rate to 33.9% from a normalized 36.4%. For the year, the company reported income before income tax of $94.206 million and net income of $60.767 million or $1.05 per diluted share on net revenues of $233.418 million compared to the income before income tax of $141.323 million and net income of $90.315 million or $1.49 per diluted share on net revenues of $246.558 million for the same period a year ago.

Chief Executive of the company, David Fisher told Dow Jones Newswires that the company intends to look at acquisition opportunities. He expects more mergers and acquisitions in the online brokerage industry. He said: "We continue to actively look for acquisition opportunities." The company has about $200 million in cash on its balance sheet and no debt.
