Omnitek Engineering Forms Joint Venture in Peru to Convert Diesel Engines to Natural Gas

SAN MARCOS, Calif., Aug. 4, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Omnitek Engineering Corporation (Pink Sheets:OMTK - News) today announced it has formed a joint venture with local partners in Peru to convert diesel engines to operate on natural gas, as well as provide services to re-power diesel trucks and buses utilizing Omnitek's natural gas engines. Based in Lima, Peru, the joint venture will operate as Omnitek Peru S.A.C., with plans to expand from several initial conversion centers in Lima to numerous other locations throughout the country. The company also said it is in negotiations with several local truck and bus dealerships to provide diesel-to-natural gas conversion services to new vehicles prior to customer delivery. "Peru represents an important growth market for our company. The country's natural gas infrastructure system is excellent, with Peruvian bank loans readily available to fleet operators for conversions and diesel engine re-powering. In addition, support by leading energy suppliers, such as PGN and Petro Peru, will contribute to a rapid expansion of the natural gas market," said Werner Funk, president and chief executive officer of Omnitek Engineering Corporation. He noted that industry sources estimate that diesel vehicle conversions for buses during the next few years will reach at least 20,000, with truck conversions expected to reach 50,000. "There are an estimated 500,000 heavy-duty engines in Peru that could be potentially converted to operate on natural gas," Funk added. As pr...

Omnitek Engineering Corporation Reports First Quarter Results

SAN MARCOS, Calif., May 14, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Omnitek Engineering Corporation (Pink Sheets:OMTK - News) today reported results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2009, with revenues impacted by the timing of customer order shipments for its diesel-to-natural gas conversion systems until after the quarter end. Net revenues for the fiscal first quarter were $211,357 compared with $537,176 a year earlier. For the same period, the company reported a net loss of $156,891, or $0.01 per share, compared with a net loss of $172,875, or $0.01 per share, a year ago. Gross profit for the three months ended March 31, 2009 was $81,327 compared with $185,241 a year ago, due primarily to decreased sales. Gross profit for the three-month period as a percentage of sales was 38 percent compared with 34 percent in the same period a year ago. "Notwithstanding the results for the quarter, which were impacted by the timing of customer order shipments rather than a precipitous decline in global demand for converting high-polluting diesel powered engines to operate on natural gas, we anticipate strong sales for the balance of 2009," said Werner Funk, president and chief executive officer of Omnitek Engineering Corporation. He highlighted two recently announced agreements concerning initial conversion orders for fleets in Peru and Bulgaria to support management's growth expectations for the year. Both projects in Peru and Bulgaria commenced in May. Funk indicated that a project to convert diesel powered irrig...

SAN MARCOS, Calif., March 25, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Omnitek Engineering Corporation (Other OTC:OMTK.PK - News) today announced the appointment of Metan Market, Ltd. as the company's exclusive agent in Bulgaria and an initial order valued at approximately $600,000 for its diesel-to-natural gas conversion systems. The company also said it has signed a similar exclusive agent agreement with Ruston Endustrieyel, based in Ankara, Turkey. The conversion order in Bulgaria is for public buses operated by Sofia Public Transport Company. The conversion project, which recently commenced, is expected to be completed over a two-year period.``Bulgaria and Turkey represent regions with tremendous growth potential, supported by an expanding infrastructure of compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling stations, and a corresponding government and private-sector commitment to utilizing gaseous fuels. Omnitek Engineering Enters Peruvian Market With Exclusive Distribution Agreement and $4.5 Million CNG Conversion Contract

SAN MARCOS, Calif., March 18, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Omnitek Engineering Corporation (Other OTC:OMTK.PK - News) today announced the appointment of G&W Group, S.A. as the company's exclusive agent in Peru and an initial order valued at approximately $4.5 million for its diesel-to-natural gas conversion systems. The conversion order is for a fleet of beverage and milk delivery vehicles owned and operated by Lima-based Leche Gloria, S.A. The conversion project, which is expected to commence in April and be completed over a two-year period, is being financed by the natural gas supplier GNC Energia Peru S.A. in cooperation with Caja Metropolitana, a Lima-based bank that provides individual and commercial financing for the conversion of vehicles to operate on natural gas. The conversion costs are being offset by GNC Energia charging a higher market rate for natural gas, but at a rate still below the cost of diesel fuel. GNC Energia is also financing the cost of installing refueling stations for Leche Gloria.``Peru represents an excellent opportunity for our company to participate in this country's commitment to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and carbon emissions. Converting high-polluting diesel powered engines to operate on natural gas is an effective and economical solution -- significantly less expensive then purchasing new natural gas vehicles. We look forward to working with G&W Group on numerous other anticipated conversion projects in the near future,'' said Werner Funk, president and chief executive officer o...
