JSC Gazprom reported earnings results for the nine months ended September 2009. For the period, the company reduced sales revenue to Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) 1% year-on-year to RUB 1.79 trillion. Gross profit fell 27% year-on-year to RUB 824.6 billion, pretax profit fell 57% to RUB 263.1 billion and net profit fell 56% to RUB 189.19 billion. The company reported revenue fell 40.45% in third quarter of 2009 due to lower gas export prices but also to the 'reflection in the third quarter of 2009 report of customs duties for gas supplied in May-June 2009'. If those payments had been reflected in the second quarter report, revenue would have fallen 21.54% in third quarter of 2009. The company also plans to develop Valanginian formations at the Zapolyarnoye and Pestovoye fields; Achimov formations at the Urengoi field; and the Nydinskaya and West Pestsovskaya areas, which are close to existing infrastructure.
