OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (OGXI) Wrap Up:

Sonus Pharmaceuticals is developing novel small molecule drugs for the treatment of patients with cancer. Our objective is to identify opportunities where there is the possibility for major improvements in patient treatments and where we believe we can mitigate development risk. We currently have one drug in clinical development and two earlier stage programs. Our plan is to continue to develop our internal pipeline of clinical compound opportunities and to evaluate possible strategic alternatives, including in-licensing, out-licensing and merger and acquisition opportunities, as a means of achieving our business strategies and enhancing stockholder value. In the fourth quarter of 2007 we engaged Ferghana Partners Inc., an international provider of independent financial advisory services to firms in the biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and specialty chemicals industries, to assist us with these strategic alternatives.  ... OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals Inc. Announces FDA Grants Additional Fast Track Designation for OGX-011 in Combination with First Line Chemotherapy

OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced that OGX-011, also known as custirsen sodium, received an additional Fast Track Designation from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for progressive metastatic prostate cancer in combination with first-line docetaxel treatment. OncoGenex had previously received Fast Track Designation for second-line docetaxel treatment with OGX-011 in combination with docetaxel for treatment of progressive metastatic prostate cancer following docetaxel. Fast Track Designation is granted to products that may provide a significant improvement in the safety or effectiveness of the treatment for a serious or life-threatening disease. Based on this designation, the FDA will take actions as appropriate to expedite the development and review of OGX-011 for approval. These actions include scheduled meetings to obtain FDA input into development plans, and the option of submitting a New Drug Application in sections rather than all components simultaneously. The request for Fast Track designation was based on data from the randomized, Phase 2 study (Study OGX-011-03) that suggested OGX-011 in combination with first-line docetaxel treatment may improve survival in patients with castrate resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). The median overall survival in patients with CRPC who were treated with OGX-011 plus first-line docetaxel was 23.8 months (95% Confidence Interval (CI) from 16.2 to infinity) compared to 16.9 months (95% CI from 12.8 to 25.8) for patients treated with docetaxel alone with a hazard ratio of 0.61 (95% CI from 0.36 to 1.02).

Four High-Flying Pharmaceutical Companies

OncoGenex Reports Third Quarter 2009 Financial Results

Conference Call on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time BOTHELL, WA and VANCOUVER Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - OncoGenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ("OncoGenex" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: OGXI - News) today reported unaudited financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2009 and reviewed the Company's highlights for the third quarter of 2009.The following consolidated results reflect the operations of OncoGenex Technologies Inc. ("OncoGenex Technologies") prior to the August 21, 2008 reverse takeover of Sonus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ("Sonus"), and the consolidated results of OncoGenex thereafter.Research and development expenses for the third quarter of 2009 decreased to $1.5 million from $1.6 million in 2008, due mainly to lower costs associated with OGX-427. For the nine months ended September 30, 2009 research and development expenses increased to $6.8 million from $3.6 million in 2008. The increase was primarily due to OGX-011 and OGX-427 manufacturing-related costs incurred in the first nine months of 2009, an increase in employee expenses and higher facility costs resulting from the reverse takeover of Sonus. Reducing the expenses in the first nine months of 2008 was a Scientific Research and Development (SRED) claim, which offset R&D expenses in that period. The SRED program is a Canadian federal tax incentive program that encourages Canadian businesses to conduct research and development in Canada. As OncoGenex Technologies became an affiliate of a public company a...
