Netcare Limited said on April 1 that it does not plan to list General Healthcare Group, Ltd. (GHG). Netcare acquired 50.1% stake in GHG in May 2006. The original Shareholder agreement provided for giving shareholders the chance to exit GHG after three years. Richard Friedland, CEO of Netcare said,“An initial public offering would be one of the mechanisms that other shareholders in GHG may exit their investment, should they elect to do so, (but) this is not being considered under current market conditions.”
Netcare Limited is mulling a London listing for its subsidiary, General Healthcare Group, Ltd. The company however ruled out a listing before the fourth quarter. Netcare Limited said that an initial public offering is being considered for the unit, but not before the fourth quarter of 2009, given market conditions. A Netcare spokeswoman declined to give further details.
