Matrix Service Co. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended December 31, 2009. For the quarter, the company reported net income of $4,533,000 or $0.17 per diluted common share on revenue of $150,425,000 against net income of $10,128,000 or $0.38 per diluted common share on revenue of $176,937,000 for the quarter ended November 30, 2008. Operating income was $7,066,000 against $14,593,000 for the quarter ended November 30, 2008. Income before income tax expense was $7,356,000 against $14,749,000 for the quarter ended November 30, 2008. For the six months period, the company reported net income of $9,042,000 or $0.34 per diluted common share on revenue of $288,075,000 against net income of $19,632,000 or $0.74 per diluted common share on revenue of $363,587,000 for the period ended November 30, 2008. Operating income was $14,397,000 against $29,202,000 for the period ended November 30, 2008. Income before income tax expense was $14,639,000 against $30,089,000 for the period ended November 30, 2008. The company revised earnings guidance for the full year 2010. The company expects to achieve earnings toward the lower end of previously stated earnings per share guidance of $0.80 to $1.10 per fully diluted share, excluding the legal charge previously announced of $0.03 per fully diluted share and the charge related to collection costs on claims acquired in a recent acquisition of $0.02 per fully diluted share.

We're expanding our customer base, leveraging our capabilities in E&I, Power and steel plate structures, maximizing the scope of our Engineering and Construction capabilities, and identifying potential acquisitions. We are focused on geographic expansion in the U.S., Canada and select international markets. However, given our financial strength, the company is well-positioned to continue moving forward on our growth plans and take advantage of opportunities to add key talent and complete strategic acquisitions.
