MedaSorb Technologies Corporation - Conference Presentation Calls
Fresenius Medical Care North America and Fresenius USA Marketing Inc. announced the closing of a distribution and supply agreement with Advanced Renal Technologies Inc. (MedaSorb Technologies Corporation). This agreement grants U.S. supply and distribution rights to Fresenius USA Marketing Inc., for CITRASATE(R) and DRYalysate(R), citrate dialysate for hemodialysis for the End Stage Renal Disease patient population. Dialysate is utilized during the performance of hemodialysis. The bi-directional movement of molecules between blood and dialysate across a semi-permeable membrane (dialyzers) removes toxins and wastes from the bloodstream while instilling the patient with valuable replacement molecules like bicarbonate. CITRASATE(R) utilizes citric acid, a known anticoagulant, rather than traditional acetic acid, to regulate dialysate pH. Unlike traditional acetic acid, citric acid may provide a local anticoagulant effect at the dialysis membrane during hemodialysis. Initial clinical findings suggest decreased utilization of heparin anticoagulant therapy during hemodialysis using citrate dialysate, as well as increased delivered dialysis dose.
