Man Group plc announced earnings results for the first half ended September 30, 2009. For the period, the company reported revenue of $692 million compared to $1,320 million for the same period last year. Profit before tax and adjusting items was $292 million compared to $731 million for the same period last year. Profit before tax was $302 million compared to $622 million for the same period last year. Adjusted EPS was 13.1 cents compared to 34.5 cents for the same period last year. Profit attributable to equity holders of the company was $248 million or 13.8 cents per diluted share against $507 million or $28.8 cents per diluted share a year ago. Return on shareholders' equity was 10.8% compared to 21.4% for the same period last year. Cash generated from operations for the six months was $311 million, in line with company profit before tax. The company maintained the interim dividend at 19.2 cents per share. This dividend will be paid at the rate of 11.89 pence per existing share. The dividends will be payable on December 17, 2009 of the record of November 27, 2009. The ex-dividend is November 25, 2009.

Man Group plc Reports Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months of 2009

Man Group plc reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months of 2009. For the quarter, the company reported net profit of EUR 4 million reflected the steep downturn in the global heavy truck market, this was a 99% decline on the figure of EUR 298 million that was recorded the year earlier. Third-quarter operating profit dropped to EUR 134 million, down from EUR 422 million the year before. The return on sales at MAN Diesel (14.6%) and MAN Turbo (11.1%) remained positive despite the difficult truck market environment All business areas generated positive cash flow from operating activities. The company reported combined operating profit for the first three quarters of the year of EUR 378 million was in line with operating expectations with a return on sales of 4.3%. However, MAN is positive it is heading in the right direction after responding rapidly to the huge decline in the global truck by cutting its cost base and production output.
