It sells its finished beverage products primarily to distributors, and beverage concentrates and syrups to bottling and canning operators, distributors, fountain wholesalers, and fountain retailers. The Coca-Cola Company announced that beverages in its PlantBottle packaging are beginning to arrive on store shelves in select markets throughout the world, initiating the company's journey toward a goal of producing 2 billion of the special PET plastic bottles by the end of 2010. Throughout Denmark, Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Light and Coca-Cola Zero in 500mL and 2L sizes are now available in the PlantBottle packaging. A variety of products, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fresca and Dasani will be in Western Canada in the PlantBottle beginning in December and for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games. And for select markets in the Western United States, including Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, PlantBottle packaging will be used for sparkling brands and Dasani in several sizes, starting in January. Future launches are being planned in other markets, including Brazil, Japan and Mexico and for China's Shanghai Expo in 2010.
The Coca-Cola Company planned to invest $5.8 billion in Brazil in the next five years.
The Coca-Cola Company has announced that its diversity and employee relations leader is to retire from the company. Cynthia McCague, senior vice president and director of human resources, worked for Coca-Cola for 28 years. She will be succeeded by Ceree Eberly, group human resources director for Europe. McCague joined the company in 1982 and has worked across the Coca-Cola system in a variety of human resources and business roles in Europe and the US. From 1998 to 2004, she led the human resources function for Coca-Cola Hellenic. She will remain with the company through April. After that, she plans to continue working with several non-profit organisations.
