As of December 31, 2008, it operated 142 branches in Israel, as well as 71 additional branches. Israel Discount Bank Ltd. workers committee and management have struck a deal which will get employees back to work. The workers committee cautions, however, that the respite from the strike is temporary. At the end of the meeting, the workers committee suspended the labor sanctions until after Passover. This means that the employees writing the bank's financial report will go back to work, and it is due to be published on schedule on March 25. The parties will meanwhile continue the negotiations. Discount Bank workers committee wants tenure given immediately to 1,000 non-tenured employees, while management will agree to give tenure to no more than 400 non-tenured employees over two years. The workers committee also wants to restrict the number of non-tenured employees to one third of the bank's workforce, compared with the current level of nearly 50%.
