Will INFN go up?

INFN Infinera Corporation featured news, full reports, and detailed charts

Infinera Corporation (INFN) Wrap Up:

Infinera Corporation (“we” or “Infinera”) has developed a solution that we believe will change the economics, operating simplicity, flexibility, reliability and scalability of optical communications networks. At the core of our Digital Optical Network architecture is what we believe to be the world’s only commercially-deployed, large-scale photonic integrated circuit, or PIC. Our PICs transmit and receive 100 Gbps of optical capacity and incorporate the functionality of over 60 discrete optical components into a pair of indium phosphide chips approximately the size of a child’s fingernail. We have used our PIC technology to design a new digital optical communications system called the DTN System. The DTN System is designed to enable cost-efficient optical to electrical to optical conversion of communications signals. The DTN System is architected to improve significantly communications service providers’ economics and service offerings as compared to traditional systems.  ... Key developments for Infinera Corp. (INFN)

Infinera Corp. Earns Department of Defense JITC Approval

Infinera Corp. announced that DTN has been approved for Department of Defense (DoD) network deployments after passing extensive conformance and interoperability tests with the Defense Information Systems Agency's Joint Interoperability Test Command. The JITC certification supports potential Infinera DTN deployments with the U.S. Department of Defense and related agencies. The Infinera DTN is the first DWDM system to be certified by JITC for carrying 40 Gigabit/second (Gb/s) services. Infinera's unique Bandwidth Virtualization(TM) makes it possible to carry 40 Gb/s services over any optical infrastructure capable of transporting 10 Gb/s services. The Infinera DTN was tested and certified as a ISN Terrestrial Transport device in accordance with JITC's Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2008 and has now achieved Unified Capabilities (UC) Approved Products List (APL) status. JITC testing provides a thorough assessment of a product's ability to provide security, protocol compliance, stability, scalability, interoperability, and management for potential DoD network configurations. The Infinera DTN was installed and tested in the JITC Advanced Technologies Testbed at Indian Head, Maryland. The JITC tests replicated potential DoD network configurations, and tests confirmed the Infinera DTN's capability to interoperate within various configurations and protect sensitive information. Infinera adds the JITC approval to a certification list which also includes approval by the U.S. Army Test Integration Center (TIC) at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, as well as the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Program for deployment by telecom companies using USDA Rural Utilities Service (RUS) funding to build networks. The Infinera DTN has been deployed in public sector networks including the New Mexico state network, and the Internet2 backbone network.

Infinera Corp. Names Chris Champion as Vice President of Sales, EMEA

Infinera Corp. has named Chris Champion Vice President of Sales, EMEA with responsibility for leading Infinera's sales activities in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa markets. Since joining Infinera in 2003, Mr. Champion has played a key role in building Infinera's European business. He was integral in securing Infinera's initial European customers such as Flag Telecom (now Reliance Globalcom). Since then, with Mr. Champion playing a key role, Infinera has been awarded networks by leading Tier One operators including Deutsche Telekom, OTEGLOBE, Telefonica International Wholesale Services, and TeliaSonera, as well as some of Europe's fastest-growing alternative operators like COLT and Carphone Warehouse Networks.

Infinera Corp. Demonstrates New ATN Metro WDM Edge Platform and its Interworking with Infinera's Market-Leading DTN Platform

Infinera Corp. will provide a live demonstration of its new ATN metro WDM edge platform and its interworking with Infinera's market-leading DTN platform at the 2009 SCTE Expo. The new ATN platform brings the benefits of Infinera's Digital Optical Networks architecture to the edge of the network, providing cable operators with a seamless end-to-end managed WDM solution. The DTN platform is well established as a class-leading digital transport solution for cable networks. With the introduction of the compact and flexible ATN, Infinera now provides an end-to-end solution for cable operators as well as traditional carriers. Infinera products are now carrying live traffic across all segments of the DWDM market. The Infinera ATN live demonstration will be on display at Infinera's booth no. 15089 at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers 2009 SCTE Expo, which begins on Oct. 28th in Denver. The ATN is designed to offer seamless integration with an Infinera DTN network with a common network management system, enabling end-to-end service provisioning and service visibility. By eliminating back-to-back transponders at network interconnection points, an ATN/DTN network delivers savings in capital expenditures, while extending Infinera's well-known ease of operation to the metro edge. An ATN network, in combination with a DTN network can offer end-to-end integrated OTN bandwidth management for traffic transiting the network, leveraging Infinera's integrated digital bandwidth management. The ATN also provides a best-in-class, high-density platform for stand-alone metro C/DWDM applications, including video and broadband backhaul, commercial service extension and data center connectivity. The ease of operation and powerful management software provide robust network management options from the smallest to the networks, enabling operators to minimize network operational expenditures.
