Interconexion Electrica SAESP won a government tender in Peru to build and operate the 543 km (337.4 miles) Trujillo-Zapallal power transmission line. The company will study the possibility to develop the project through its Peruvian subsidiary Consorcio Transmantaro and projects to have the grid ready 30 months after the signing of the contract. The concession will be for 30 years after the launch of the line. ISA estimates the revenues from the line at nearly USD 26 million (EUR 17.3 million) a year. The project will guarantee reliable electricity supply from Peru's national power grid to the country's northern regions.
Interconexion Electrica SAESP reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 2009. In the third quarter alone, the revenues rose 6.4% to COP 855.376 billion due mainly to the start of operation of new projects in Brazil. The operating profit increased 10.8% to nearly COP 1.424 trillion. For the nine months, the company reported net profit of COP 315.096 billion, up 73.4% year-on-year. The consolidated operating revenues grew 8.1% year-on-year to COP 2.508 trillion.
