i-CABLE Communications Ltd. reported earnings results for the first half of 2009. The company saw its turnover and profits drop in the first half due to the global economic downturn and a slump in the advertising business. Turnover dropped by 19% to HKD 862 million and i-Cable posted a net profit of HKD 5 million, down 80.8% from HKD 26 million in the year-ago period. Operating profit for the unit totalled HKD 81 million, down from HKD 93 million a year earlier but up from HKD 55 million in the second half of last year.
