Key developments for Hewlett-Packard Company (HPQ)
Hewlett-Packard Company announced three specifically tailored, easy-to-manage education solutions that make it easier to teach with technology while reducing overall costs. HP MultiSeat allows multiple students to simultaneously share a single host computer, enabling schools to increase student access to technology at a reduced cost. HP TeachNow enables even nontechnical teachers to easily teach with technology in the classroom. HP SchoolCloud lets students and teachers access their applications and data at school, home or anywhere they have Internet access. HP MultiSeat helps schools that have limited student access to technology create a technology-rich computing experience for every student in a classroom, lab or library. HP MultiSeat t100 allows a single host computer to be shared by up to 10 students, so schools can maximize the number of computer seats without increasing their technology budgets. Students use their personal monitor keyboard and mouse connected via MultiSeat to the host computer to access their own independent and familiar Windows(R) 7 computing experience. The HP MultiSeat t100 consumes only 2.5 watts of power, reducing energy costs by up to 80%. HP MultiSeat is expected to be available in early 2010. HP TeachNow is expected to be available later this year. HP SchoolCloud is immediately available.

Convergence Technologies (USA) LLC announced that it has filed a lawsuit (Docket No. 1:09cv1256) in the Eastern District of Virginia against Hewlett-Packard Company, Sapphire Technology Limited and Taiwan Microloops Corporation for the infringement, contributory infringement, and/or inducement to infringe upon its U.S. patent #7,422,053. Joseph J. Zito of ZITO tlp has been appointed as its lead litigator. In 2008, Convergence had attempted to avoid the involvement of end users in this patent dispute by filing a patent infringement lawsuit against Microloops in Taiwan, despite Taiwan's limited protection for intellectual property. However, on September 7, 2009, the Taiwan court sided with Microloops and dismissed Convergence's complaint based on its view that its Taiwan patent lacked novelty and inventiveness. This is despite the fact that Convergence's technology, in addition to being granted patents from around the world, including from the U.S., has also to-date been granted three patents in Taiwan. Vapor chamber is a relatively new cooling technology critical to the electronic industry, particularly the server and blade server markets. Convergence had discovered a unique condensate flow requirement in vapor chambers, and patented a Multiwick structure uniquely characterized by its spatially varying wicking power. It is this Multiwick structure that gives Convergence's vapour chambers its superior cooling capabilities.
