Hennes & Mauritz AB announced sales results for the month of October 2009. For the month, the company said comparable-store sales fell 3%, while total sales rose 7% during the month. The company said most markets, notably France, Spain and the U.S., had continued weak sales, while sales in Scandinavia, Central Europe and Asia were 'very satisfactory'.

Hennes & Mauritz announced that it has been revealed that the new Allee shopping mall is to be opened on November 11, 2009. The new complex, which is located in Budapest's District 11, has a total floor space of 70,000 m2. Hennes & Mauritz AB will open its sixth Hungarian unit in the new mall. The shop will have a 1,700 m2 retail area. Electroworld will also open a mew 2,362-m2 store at Allee and Interspar's new unit will have a total floor space of 6,000 m2. Inditex will open new Zara, Pull&Bear, Breschka and Stradivarius stores and there will also be a new Marks & Spencer (M&S) outlet with a total floor space of 1,300 m2. Esprit and Promod will also be present at Allee shopping mall.

Hennes & Mauritz AB opened its first area stores at Kenwood Towne Centre and Florence Mall. The stores are full-concept, meaning they include fashions for women, men and children as well as lingerie and accessories. Some of its mall locations focus just on women's fashions. H&M typically employs 30 to 50 people per location.
