GPT Group advised the income distribution for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 will be 1.0 cents per stapled security, payable on November 27, 2009. This comprises a Trust Distribution of 1.0 cent.
The CEO of GPT Group, Michael Cameron said that the company is “well placed” to acquire commercial properties in Australia after selling most of its foreign assets. “We’re really well positioned to pursue investment opportunities as shopping centers and offices now come onto the market,” Cameron said in a speech in Sydney. “We’ve got significant flexibility on our balance sheet and we’ve got significant capacity in our funds to optimize any of those development opportunities.” The company is planning to sell GPT Halverton and 16 U.S. shopping centers by Christmas, after completely writing off all of those assets. GPT also plans to exit its U.S. senior housing portfolio, worth AUD 163 million, once it receives a suitable offer, according to Cameron. GPT is also seeking buyers for its Australian Homemaker City investment, Cameron said.
It was reported that GPT Group is planning to sell other properties in its Voyages portfolio. The report added that the Alice Springs Resort has been sold to Indigenous Business Australia and partners for around AUD 10 million.
