In addition, Geokinetics performs work for seismic data library companies. It serves national and international oil companies, as well as smaller independent exploration and production companies. Geokinetics provides its seismic data acquisition services in the Gulf Coast, Mid-Continent, California, Appalachian and Rocky Mountain regions of the United States; western Canada; Canadian Artic; Central and South America; Africa; the Middle East; Australia/New Zealand; and the Far East. The company was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Geokinetics Inc. Announces Unaudited Consolidated Financial Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended September 30, 2009

Geokinetics Inc. announced unaudited consolidated financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2009. EBITDA for the third quarter of 2009 decreased 11% to $16.4 million from $18.4 million in the third quarter of 2008. The company reported a loss applicable to common stockholders of $4.8 million or $0.45 per share, in the third quarter of 2009 compared to income of $0.2 million or $0.02 per diluted share for the same quarter in 2008. Included in third quarter 2009 results are special charges of $0.5 million or $0.04 per share for severance costs. Revenue for the quarter was $96.8 million against $123.1 million last year. The decline in Revenue was primarily attributable to further weakness in North America as evidenced by third quarter 2009 international seismic acquisition revenues declining by less than 2% from the third quarter of 2008. Loss from operations was $1.2 million against income of $5.4 million last year. Loss before income taxes was $1.2 million against income of $4.4 million last year. For the nine months, the company reported income applicable to common stockholders of $0.4 million or $0.04 per diluted share on revenue of $388.6 million against income of $0.9 million or $0.09 per diluted share on revenue of $356.8 million last year. Income from operations was $27.7 million against $13.7 million last year. Income before income taxes was $24.9 million against $9.4 million last year. Net cash provided by operating activities was $59.4 million against $29.6 million last year. Purchases and acquisition of property and equipment was $26.5 million against $38.3 million last year. EBITDA was $71.5 million against $49.2 million last year.
