Global Traffic Network Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended September 30, 2009. The company's revenue for the quarter was $20.4 million, an increase of 27.5% from $16.0 million reported in the first quarter of fiscal 2009. The increase in fiscal 2010 quarterly revenue was achieved due to a contribution of $5.9 million in revenue from the company's United Kingdom radio traffic and entertainment news operations which were acquired effective March 1, 2009. Net operating loss for the quarter was $0.6 million compared to $1.7 million and adjusted operating income was $0.6 million compared to $2.1 million for the first fiscal quarter of 2009. Net loss for the quarter was $1.0 million or $0.06 per diluted share compared to net income of $0.9 million or $0.05 per diluted share for the same period a year ago. Included in the net loss for the period was $0.7 million of non-cash amortization expense related to the amortization of the intangible assets of the U.K. acquisition. Net loss before income taxes was $0.33 million against net income before income taxes of $2.0 million reported last year. For the second quarter of fiscal 2010, the company anticipates net revenues and adjusted operating income will exceed the previous year period while net income will be lower, primarily due to amortization expense related to the intangible assets associated with the acquisition of The Unique Broadcasting Company Limited.

We are the largest provider of traffic information reports to radio stations in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom and we provide traffic information reports to television stations in Australia and Canada. We also provide news information reports to radio stations in Canada, entertainment news reports to radio stations in the United Kingdom and we believe that we maintain the largest inventory of commercial advertising embedded in radio news reports in Australia. We derive a substantial majority of our revenues from the sale to advertisers of commercial advertising inventory associated with these information reports. We obtain this advertising inventory from radio and television stations in exchange for information reports and/or, for certain broadcasters, cash compensation. Although we are a Nevada corporation with principal executive offices located in New York, New York, we do not provide, nor do we intend to provide traffic or news reports to radio or television stations in the United States.
