Grammer AG Reports Revenue Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months of 2009

Grammer AG reported revenue results for the third quarter and nine months of 2009. For the quarter, the group reported revenue totaled €176.8 million, and was thus 26% down from the prior-year level and still affected by the effects of the worldwide financial and economic crisis. EBIT was negative at €5.2 million, the considerable improvement from the second quarter level of €10.9 million indicates that the rapid reaction of the company with restructuring measures is now having a positive effect. The €12.2 million in one-of expenses for implementing the measures burdened results in the first nine months of the year. For the first nine months, the group reported revenue of €518.5 million compared to €787.4 million. As expected, EBIT is negative after the first three quarters and, at €24.7 million, is down substantial y from last year's level EBITDA of €23.5 million.

Grammer AG posted a loss before interest and tax (LBIT) of EUR 19.4 million (USD 27.4 million) for the first half of 2009 after a profit of EUR 21.9 million a year earlier. The result was weighed down by one-off restructuring expenses of EUR 9.8 million. Sales dropped 37.6% on the year to EUR 341.7 million. For 2009, the company expects negative earnings as a result of the restructuring costs. It also projected a 30% annual decline in sales.
