The net loss included non-recurring charges for impairment of goodwill related to potential reduction in future cash flows from previous dial-up subscriber acquisitions of $1,120,000 and $780,000 for the years ended June 30, 2009 and 2008, respectively. For the year, the company has EBITDA loss of $0.5 million against $1.0 million and total revenue of $7.8 million against $8.8 million reported last year. EBITDA loss adjusted for failed merger costs, decreased by $742,000, to $280,000 in fiscal 2009.
Internet America Inc. Appoints Mark White as Counsel on Rural Broadband Development

Internet America Inc. announced the appointment of former Texas Governor, Mark White as Counsel on Rural Broadband Development. Mr. White's duties will include the development of public private partnerships to bring broadband internet to rural areas utilizing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that includes the allocation of $7.2 billion to provide broadband access to rural and underserved areas throughout the United States. He will join Internet America as a salaried employee with possible additional compensation, including stock options, based on the Company's success in establishing alliances for beneficiaries of stimulus funds.

Internet America Stimulus Grant Proposal Supported by the State of Texas
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples has recommended the grant application submitted by Internet America, Inc. to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration under Broadband Technology Opportunities Program. Internet America’s application is among only 21 endorsed “last mile†projects, defined as those which deliver high speed broadband Internet directly to consumers. The NTIA sought input from Texas on those applications affecting the state. According to its announcement, the State of Texas screened projects for the ability to extend broadband service to unserved and underserved populations; reasonableness of the proposed cost of service; sustainability; the level of service to be provided; and the ability to address the policy goals of the State of Texas, BTOP and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Internet America Completes Application for Recovery Act Funding
Internet America, Inc. (OTCBB:GEEK - News) today announced the submission of its application to the Broadband Initiatives Program and Broadband Technology Opportunities Program under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
