Its patented platform technology is based on the use of IgGs (gamma-immunoglobulins), a relatively non-toxic human plasma-derived product used to treat various immune deficiencies and autoimmune diseases. The company's lead drug candidate, VitiGam, targets stage III and stage IV melanoma. VitiGam received Orphan Drug designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of Stage IIB to Stage IV metastatic melanoma. GammaCan International has a research and licensing agreement with Tel Hashomer Medical Research Infrastructure and Services, Ltd. to conduct a research project relating to the mechanism of action for IVIg therapy, hyper-immune IVIg, and use of IVIg as an anti-cancer treatment.
