The government of Bolivia has initiated discussions to acquire over 50% stake in Transportadora de Electricidad SA (TDE), owned by Red Electrica Corporacion SA, Bolivia's hydrocarbons minister, Oscar Coca, said on November 13. Bolivia is also in talks to controlling stakes in Empresa Electrica Corani SA, Empresa Guaracachi SAM and Empresa Electrica Valle Hermoso SA, created with the privatization of Empresa Nacional de Electricidad SA.
The regional environmental commission Corema of Chile's Los Lagos region has given the green light to the construction of the 7.6 MW Piruquina hydropower plant (HPP) in the province of Chiloe by Empresa Nacional de Electricidad S.A. The initiative, launched by the renewable energy development unit of Endesa Chile, envisages the plant to produce an average 30.4 GWh per year and to use the water resources of the Carihueico river.
