Ecolab, C.H Robinson CEOs in top 10 of ‘wealth creation’ index
Ecolab Inc.’s Douglas Baker Jr. and C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc.’s John Wiehoff are among the top 10 CEOs in a “wealth creation” index published in Chief Executive magazine. The index, in its second year, ranked chief executives by their companies’ cash flow in excess of the costs of capital invested in operations over the past three years. The index ranks CEOs at S&P 500 companies who’ve been in their jobs at least three years. Wiehoff was No. 6 on the list, up from No. 14 last year; Baker was No. 7 on the list, up from No. 23. Robert Selander of Purchase, N.Y.-based MasterCard Inc. (NYSE:MA) topped the list. The biggest “wealth destroyer” was Bruce Williamson of Houston-based Dynegy Inc. (NYSE: DYN). The report on the index credited C.H. Robinson (Nasdaq: CHRW), a third-party logistics company, with having an “asset-light business model” because it doesn’t own any trucks. It instead relies on its relationships with shippers and trucking companies. The Eden Prairie-based company’s proprietary information system keeps shipments moving along economically. “It’s not as volume-sensitive as a shipper and no one shipper represents more than 3 percent of revenue. It can use its match-making information system as a vehicle to expand outside the U.S.,” Chief Executive magazine said on i...Click here to read the whole Article (external link)
