Dyax Corp. Announces Consolidated Unaudited Financial Results for the Fourth Quarter and Year Ended December 31, 2009

Dyax Corp. announced consolidated unaudited financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2009. For the quarter, the company's total revenues were $6.3 million, as compared to $31.5 million for the comparable quarter in 2008. For the quarter ended December 31, 2009, the company reported a net loss of $10.9 million or $0.14 per share, as compared to a net income of $6.4 million or $0.10 per share for the comparable quarter in 2008. Net income in the 2008 quarter was due to the timing of recognition of previously deferred revenue from license and collaboration agreements entered into during 2008. Loss from operations for the quarter was $9.389 million against income from operations of $8.011 million for the same quarter last year. For the year, the company's revenues were $21.6 million, as compared to $43.4 million for the 2008 year. The higher 2008 revenue was primarily due to revenue recognized in relation to new license and collaboration agreements entered into during 2008, for which there was no corresponding revenue recognized in 2009. For the year ended December 31, 2009, the net loss was $62.4 million or $0.90 per share, as compared to $66.5 million or $1.08 per share for the 2008 year. Loss from operations for the year was $54.1 million against $52.3 million for the last year.
