The company reported net sales for the month of October 2009 decreased 1.8% to $44.3 million from $45.1 million reported for the month of October 2008. Comparable store sales for the month of October 2009 decreased 5.2% on a reported basis, and decreased approximately 8.2% after adjusting for the 'days adjustment calendar timing shift'. For October 2008, the company's comparable store sales increased 6.0% on a reported basis, and increased approximately 5.0% after adjusting for the calendar shift. The decrease in total reported sales for October 2009 compared to October 2008 resulted primarily from the decrease in comparable store sales, partially offset by increased international sales and sales from the Company's leased department relationships, due to the re-launch of the exclusive Two Hearts Maternity collection in Sears and Kmart stores in October 2009.
Destination Maternity Corporation announced the re-launch of its Two Hearts Maternity by Destination Maternity collection, available exclusively at Sears and Kmart stores. Moms-to-be can now find the quality, style and value they have come to expect from Destination Maternity at over 620 Sears and Kmart locations throughout the United States. The rollout of the Two Hearts collection began in early October 2009 and will reach approximately 523 Sears locations and approximately 100 Kmart locations by the end of October. The Two Hearts Maternity collection will be the exclusive maternity apparel offered in Sears and Kmart locations. The new collection delivers the latest in career and casual sportswear as well as dresses, swimwear, lingerie and nursing-friendly sleepwear, all specially designed to complement the pregnant silhouette. Since most items are priced under $25, Mom-to-be can fill her closet without emptying her wallet.
