It was formerly known as Norske Skog Canada Limited and changed its name to Catalyst Paper Corporation in October 2005. Catalyst Paper Corporation has appealed a British Columbia Supreme Court decision that it must pay its outstanding property taxes. The court told the company in October that if officials think the bills are unfair they must take that up with the various levels of government. Catalyst owes about $23 million in taxes to North Cowichan, Campbell River, Port Alberni and Powell River, where its mills are located.
