Compania de Transporte de Energia Electrica en Alta Tension Transener reported earnings results for the first half of 2009. For the period, the company reported net profit rose to ARS 48.5 million (USD 12.7 million/EUR 8.9 million) in the first half of 2009 from ARS 10.8 million in the same period in 2008. The company's consolidated net sales grew 38.5% year-on-year to ARS 303.2 million due partly to an increase of ARS 38.4 million in net revenues from electricity transport services.

For the quarter the company reported a ARS 37.5 million (USD 10.1 million/EUR 7.4 million) net profit, against a ARS 3.6 million loss in January-March 2008. The company's consolidated net sales rose 40.5% year-on-year to ARS 155.1 million due partially to increased electricity transmission tariffs. The operating profit increased to ARS 17.3 million from ARS 16.3 million. Transener raised its non-operating profit to ARS 21.4 million compared to a ARS 19.3 million non-operating loss in the same period in 2008, despite the unfavorable exchange rate impact. The result was attributed mainly to debt buyback operations in 2009.

Compania de Transporte de Energia Electrica en Alta Tension announced consolidated earnings results for the full year of 2008. For the period the company posted pre-tax loss of ARS 42.3 million, down from a ARS 12 million profit in 2007.
