Creative Technologies Corp. has teamed up with THX to bring the audio experience of the big screen onto PCs and notebooks. The two companies plan to co-develop a range of audio solutions targeted at PC manufacturers. Called the THX TruStudio PC suite, the products promise benefits such as the ability to produce studio quality sound on the desktop. They can also enhance dialogue when a movie is playing on the computer. Creative Technologies Corp. announced earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended December 31, 2007. For the quarter, the Company reported a net income of $7.63 million compared to a net income of $92.1 million for the same quarter last year - a figure that was boosted by a net income of $82 million arising from the payout by Apple Inc. for the use of Creative's MP3 player patent. On a per-share basis, the quarter profit is 9 cents, down from a profit of 12 cents, excluding Apple's contribution. Revenue for the second quarter fell by 19.1% to $262.54 million from $324.4 for the same quarter last year. Half-year income for its 2008 fiscal year is $8.94 million, compared with $71.1 million for the same period last year.
