Continental Airlines, Inc. Appoints Laurence E. Simmons to its Board of Directors

Continental Airlines, Inc. announced that on November 13, 2009, the Board of Directors appointed a new director, Mr. Laurence E. Simmons, to the Company's Board of Directors, after increasing the total number of directors constituting the Board from nine to ten. Mr. Simmons' term will expire at the 2010 annual meeting of the Company's stockholders. In addition, Mr. Simmons was appointed to the Audit Committee of the Board effective November 13, 2009. Simmons founded SCF Partners in 1989 and for nearly two decades has overseen the investment of more than $1 billion to build successful energy service and equipment companies. He previously was co-founder and partner of Simmons & Company International. In addition, Simmons serves on several civic boards in the Houston area, including Texas Children's Hospital, where he was chairman, and the Sam Houston Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America.

Continental Airlines Announces Traffic Results for the Month and Year-to-Date Period Ended October 2009

Continental Airlines Inc. reported traffic results for the month and year-to-date period ended October 2009. The company reported October consolidated (mainline plus regional) load factor of 82.5%, 3.5 points above the October 2008 consolidated load factor, and a mainline load factor of 83.0%, 3.5 points above the October 2008 mainline load factor. All four October load factors were records for the month. In October 2009, Continental flew 7.3 billion consolidated revenue passenger miles (RPMs) and 8.8 billion consolidated available seat miles (ASMs), resulting in a consolidated traffic increase of 1.7% and a capacity decrease of 2.6% as compared to October 2008. In October 2009, Continental flew 6.5 billion mainline RPMs and 7.8 billion mainline ASMs, resulting in a mainline traffic increase of 1.9% and a mainline capacity decrease of 2.4% as compared to October 2008. Domestic mainline traffic was 3.4 billion RPMs in October 2009, up 2.3% from October 2008, and domestic mainline capacity was 4.0 billion ASMs, down 0.6% from October 2008. For the year to date period, the company reported revenue passenger miles of 74,828,826, available seat miles of 92,061,550, passenger load factor of 81.3%, onboard passengers of 52,671,331 and cargo revenue ton miles of 760,250,000 against revenue passenger miles of 78,997,329, available seat miles of 98,099,709, passenger load factor of 80.5%, onboard passengers of 56,679,755 and cargo revenue ton miles of 855,238,000 for the same period a year ago.

Continental Airlines Launches Three New Routes from Houston on Sunday

Continental Airlines, Inc. will launch daily nonstop flights Sunday, Nov. 1, to three new destinations from its Houston hub at George Bush Intercontinental Airport: Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG). The new service to Frankfurt will be operated with Boeing 767-400ER aircraft, seating 35 passengers in BusinessFirst and 200 passengers in economy. Flights will depart Houston daily at 6:55 p.m., arriving in Frankfurt at 11:45 a.m. the next day. The return flights will depart Frankfurt daily at 1:50 p.m., arriving in Houston at 6:15 p.m. the same day.
