Biosensors International Group Ltd. announced earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2009. Total product sales in the third quarter were $29.8 million, a 19% sequential increase over the previous quarter, and a 54% increase over the same period a year ago, driven largely by continued growth in the sales of the BioMatrixTM drugeluting stent Drugeluting stent revenues were $16.5 million in third quarter, 28% higher than second quarter and $5.4 million more than third quarter an increase of 49%. Sales of other interventional cardiology products were $9.9 million, a 75% increase over third quarter due to increased OEM sales in Asia. For quarter, sales of critical care products also increased by 33% to $3.4 million due to increased sales in China. Including licensing revenue and royalties, total revenue for third quarter full year of 2010 was $32.3 million versus $20.6 million in Third Quarter full year of 2009, an increase of 57%. The company reported a net profit of $12.4 million or 1.17 cents earnings per basic share and 1.13 cents earnings per diluted share, compared to a net los of $0.3 million or 0.02 cents los per basic and diluted share for the same period a year ago. For the nine-month period, the company reported a net profit of $23.0 million, or 2.17 cents earnings per basic and 2.13 cents earnings per diluted share compared to a net loss of $1.5 million or 0.14 cent loss per basic and diluted share for the same period a year ago. Based on its performance through December 2009, the company expects product revenues for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2010 to range between $95 and $105 million, as indicated in previous financial guidance. The projected sales growth over fiscal year 2009 will consist of continued strong drugeluting stent sales increases, slower growth of other interventional cardiology product revenues and relatively flat sales of critical care products. For fiscal year 2011, the company believes that product revenue, excluding licensing and royalty revenue will range between $135.0 million and $145.0 million. Increased sales will continue to be driven by the drug-eluting stent business. The company expects profitability to grow over fiscal year 2010 levels on an overall basis, with the effect of higher revenues being of set by increased expenses required for revenue growth and development of future products.
